What Are the Benefits of Drinking Green Tea?

We have often been bombarded with claims of one specific product being a cure-all for a variety of ailments -- some of these snake oil products assert their ability to cure baldness, rheumatism, weight loss, and digestive problems. This miracle product guarantees your complete satisfaction in curing your aches and pains or your money back. We often view these extraordinary claims with skepticism.

However, there is a drink that has been in existence for thousands of years and studies are beginning to emerge supporting its reputation for being a "wonder" product. The benefit of drinking green tea is starting to yield some amazing returns to the green tea drinker that can aid the human body in a number of ways. The possible benefit of drinking green tea includes its prevention of ovarian cancer, fighting viruses and other various ailments.

Ovarian Cancer

A recent study conducted overseas suggests that a benefit of drinking green tea is its ability to reduce the risk of ovarian cancer. The study has found that a woman's risk of developing ovarian cancer can be reduced by as much as one-half by simply drinking two cups of tea per day.

This research is not confirmed, however, and additional research needs to be conducted even though there is a strong correlation between women diagnosed with ovarian cancer who do not drink tea and those women who drink tea and are free of ovarian cancer. It is thought that this benefit of drinking green tea is derived from the antioxidants that are found in a cup of the tea; these antioxidants remove free radicals within the body.

Viruses

Another possible benefit of drinking green tea indicated by test results suggests the drink's ability to negate viruses. These studies have shown that tea is able to effectively counteract viruses that cause the body to experience diarrhea, pneumonia, inflammation of the bladder, and infections of our skin. Additionally, the sipping of tea can cleanse the mouth of viruses as well.

It is believed that there are certain ingredients in tea that stimulate the immune system within the body. This stimulation strengthens and increases the role of the immune system in combating viruses and perhaps bacteria that invade the body.

Other Benefits

Other possible benefits of drinking green tea include a broad spectrum of soothing other ailments within the body, including cataracts, arthritis, hearing loss, and tooth decay. Case studies have suggested that green tea may have a larger role to play in maintaining health than previously suspected, even though the drink has been popular for thousands of years.
