Quenching Your Thirst -- Iced Green Tea

Hosting a high tea party in your backyard can be very fun at times. With all your family and friends around you, you might be having a grand ol' time, especially with the variety of foods and drinks available. Sometimes you might need to wonder what drink to serve, though, for there are many different people with different tastes, in addition to some being very health conscious. There is one simple resolution for this problem -- iced green tea.

Iced green tea is one of the simplest beverages to offer, yet very healthy and a good choice for such a party, especially that everyone might be having lots of fatty foods and so on. This type of drink is one of the most famous in Italy, and it is called the granite, or Italian water ice, which is a dessert consisting of shaved ice, sugar, and juice. Before green tea was not commercially introduced, they were using only black teas and oolongs, but now there are many parties there which have this drink as their official drink, since many Italians are realizing the health benefits to be gained from tea nowadays.

Commercial Bottled Iced Green Teas vs. Homemade Ones

Those sold in the supermarkets and departmental stores are purely industrialized version of this healthy drink. Most of them either contain too much sugar, or the green tea taste is purely artificial rather than having the original tea in it. To compromise with the healthy living lifestyle nowadays, most of these drink makers have their own versions of diet green tea, which are sweetened with aspartame and ace-k.

Alternatively, there are still a few companies that make good iced green teas in bottled form. And they even come with additional flavorings that are very safe for ingestion. For example, there is this green tea drink called the cinnamint green tea, or even the mint cinnamon ginger iced green tea, which can be found on the American Institute for Cancer Research website. This iced green tea drink is an excellent alternative to soda, which has so many calories and no nutritional value. Basically this iced green tea is a very simple form of drink that you can make yourself in the kitchen, provided you use the correct ratio of green tea to all other ingredients such as cinnamon and coloring. Besides being a very cooling drink, as tea naturally is, it also helps to supply protective antioxidants and vitamins.
