Green tea is derived from the same plant as black tea, the only difference being that green tea is steamed and black tea are fermented and both the teas are derived from the same plant Camellia sinensis, but it has been found that only green tea has all the medicinal properties. It is the process adopted in making these two teas caused one to have medicinal properties and other less medicinal property because the black tea is produced by the process of fermenting which neutralizes the medicinal properties of tea. The only thing that is bad is the presence of caffeine in green tea, albeit in a very small quantity, which may not really affect you. The caffeine count is very negligible and is significantly lower than coffee and any other tea, however the benefits of drinking green tea far outweigh the side effects of caffeine The quantity of green tea to be taken differs from person to person, some Chinese medicine men say that 10 cups a day would suffice, while some researchers say 2-3 cups a day is more than enough.
